June 3 – [EXTENDED] July 10, 2016
Opening Reception June 3, 2016, 7–10pm
99¢ Plus Gallery is pleased to present “Second Nature,” a solo exhibition by Emily Wissemann. The exhibition explores the boundaries between fine art, decor and functionality. The installation utilizes conventional methods of display and organizational systems employed across disciplines — from malls to playgrounds, to convention centers. This new series of sculptures strips the utility of commonplace materials both reinventing their form and re-contextualizing their function.
Emily Wissemann (b.1992) is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Bard College in 2014 and received the Elizabeth Murray and Sol Lewitt Award for Excellence in Studio Art. She is the current resident of the 99¢ Plus Gallery. This is her first solo show in New York.
